JSI is a semi autonomous institution operating under the umbrella of the Judiciary. It was created in 2004 by administrative direction of the Hon. the Chief Justice of Uganda, Hon. Justice Benjamin Odoki. It is however in the process of obtaining a legal status which will give it more autonomy so as to become more competitive and stand out on its own. Mandate The institute is mandated to provide training for the Judiciary staff both judicial and non judicial. On request, it also provides training for stakeholders in the administration of Justice not only in Uganda but also within the region and far beyond. Vision & Mission of JSI Vision: To become a leading provider of high quality training for excellence in the administration of Justice. Functions of the Institute The institute is mandated to perform the following functions among others:-
